Risks and benefits of chemical peel

There are a lot of benefits of chemical peels. Either of them make your skin younger-looking, free of wrinkles, blemishes, uneven pigmentation regions and even acne. These are very simple cosmetic procedures that can improve your appearance and enhance your self-confidence.Different types of chemical peel provide with different benefits.

Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs)- mild chemical peel:

  • Makes your dry skin smoother
  • Improves your skin impaired by the sun
  • Controls acne
  • If  combined with bleaching agent it can eliminate pigment problems
  • Can be used as TCA pre-treatment
  • Convenient for people who do not have time for long recovery period

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA)-medium-depth chemical peel:

  • Removes thin facial lines
  • Eliminates kin flaws and birthmarks
  • Improve skin pigmentation

Phenol- deep chemical peel:

  • Improves blemishes
  • Removes deeper skin lines
  • Removes birthmarks
  • Eliminates pre-cancerous growths
  • Corrects acne scars and controls acne
  • Provides long-lasting effects
  • A single treatment is needed

The risks and considerations

All types of chemical peels involve certain risks and possible complications. Of course, if performed by a qualified plastic surgeon these risks are minimal but they still can occur. These uncertainties are associated with individual factors and may include unpredictable scarring and infections.

AHA treatment may cause skin redness, irritation and burning. And since several sessions are required the skin should adjust to these sensations with time.

Middle-depth chemical peel with TCA may cause some unpredicted discoloration of your skin. Normally your skin should be able to produce pigment as before. You will be advised to avoid sun exposure for a few months and use strong sun-block. In addition, this type of chemical peel is more suitable for dark-skinned people. You will need several treatment sessions with TCA solution.

Phenol provides deep chemical peel. Be aware that your skin will be lighter in color after this procedure and will not be able to tan because of inability to produce pigment. Treatment with phenol may cause discoloration of the skin – some areas may be lighter than the others. Phenol solution should not be used on patients with previous heart problems, since it may cause undesired effects. Make sure your doctor knows if you had any problems with your health in the past or recently.

Be aware that this type of chemical peel is not recommended for dark-skinned people. It also requires a long recovery period of even two months. You will always have to wear sun protection and strong sunblock.

Although chemical peels are sometimes used with facelift, you should not think that this treatment is like a surgical procedure. You must have realistic expectations, since the results are not as noticeable as that of the surgery. In case you still have any questions about the procedure, its benefits and risks, do not hesitate to consult your doctor before chemical peel.

Usually, nipples must be moved, but I guess it also depends on the current size of your breast.

    Hello Taii,
You are too young to concern about your breast size. I understand that now you are ashamed of big breast, but later, when you’ll be 18 y.o. or older you will be proud of it. Please, don’t pay any attention on stupid comments about your breast, just be proud of yourself and everything will be all right. Good luck!

  15. For the teenagers who have posted about breast size: you will not grow to be proud of your size, you’ll hate it just as much in ten years as you do now. I had really big boobs by the time I was 14 and was always being teased about it. Finally, when I was 35 I had surgery. I wish I’d had it done a lot sooner. I am 5 “4 and VERY small boned. I wore a 32G (or 32 DDD in America). I looked ridiculous. People saw my breasts, not me. Men could be gross about it. My clothes looked wierd. I wore things that were way too hot in the summer in order to cover up.

Having said that, it’s tricky to have it done when you are a younger teen as your boobs may be still planning on growing. Bastards! So if you do go ahead with it, have them made smaller than you would have intended just in case. Also when you grow up, pregnancy will likely make them grow again. Mine did and they never shrunk. Unfortunetely I had the surgery done between my two pregnancies and they have now gone to a 34D and I hate them and am considering having them done again!

My scarring is VERY minimal. Unless you peer underneath you can’t see the scars, including around the nipple. I had them done 8 years ago. Now some people’s scars can be bad apparently, but not everyone’s are.

I’ll just repeat, I wish I’d had it done years earlier. It was life-changing. I never realised how much time I spent worrying about how I looked. Mine were covered by insurance as I played up the pain aspect. Go on about that and see it will be paid for. And start talking to your mums now as you could likely have it done by 16 or 17. Good luck!

  16. Hi my name is priya, right now my size is 30, m 4.9ft and my body is thin but my breast is big, i want to reduse it, help me with some exe. or some cream so by that i can reduce it. i belongs to poor family not affrroadble for surgery. pls help me out from this trouble

  17. I understand that now you are ashamed of big breast, but later, when you’ll be 18 y.o. or older you will be proud of it. Please, don’t pay any attention on stupid comments about your breast, just be proud of yourself and everything will be all right. But the advantages are easily crossed as breast reduction gives the breasts in good shape.

  19. Hello. I am a 40 year old mother of 3. I went from a 32A straight to a D and now litteraly busting out of a 34DD. I am 5’8″ and wear a size 6. These boobs are not for this body. I am going in for a reduction April 20th, and welcome any suggestion for scaring. I used a product called thermazine for a c-section scar and that helped.
