Face and neck liposuction

Facial appearance changes with time and age. Fatty deposits become apparent not only on the buttocks, thighs and abdomen but also on the jowls, under the chin and neck. This is due to gradual changes of aging and/or weight gain. The face, cheeks, under chin area become full and rounded causing some people lose their confidence and self-esteem.

Face and neck liposuction

Face and neck liposuction is used to remove accumulated fat on the cheeks, under chin, neck area and in front of the ears. Diet and exercise can help individuals look better but it does not necessarily help the appearance of the face. Therefore, liposuction is effective in improving facial appearance.

Perfect candidates for this cosmetic surgery procedure are individuals in a relatively good physical and psychological health. Those who want to remove persistent baby fat under the chin and those who want to remove fatty deposits gained due to aging and weight gain on the cheeks, under the chin, and on the neck. Patients, who want to undergo facial liposuction should be at least 18 years of age.

On your initial consultation the surgeon will gather your medical history. He/she will evaluate your facial appearance and areas that you want to change and correct. The surgeon will describe the procedure itself, possible benefits and risks of this plastic surgery . He/she will also discuss with you the type of anesthesia required and give all needed instructions how to prepare for facial liposuction surgery. Feel free to ask for all information you need.

Facial liposuction surgery

Liposuction is usually performed at the hospital or outpatient department. Depending on the extent of the procedure, it may last from two to three and a half hours. General anesthesia or intravenous sedation is used prior to surgery. Then a small canula tube attached to a suction device is inserted into the area required for correction. Afterwards, the surgeon moves the tube to create a mesh of tunnels under the skin, then he/she suctions out the unwanted fat tissue with the help of the canula.

Incisions are made in the areas where scars cannot be seen. In order to remove fat from under the chin or lower neck, an incision is made in the submental wrinkle. Incisions under the ear lobe or inside the mouth are made to remove fatty deposits in the cheek area. Once the facial liposuction procedure is complete, special bandage is placed on the face to enhance healing.

Facial liposuction recovery

Recovery and getting back to normal is a gradual process. In order to improve healing patients are asked to resume smoking for a few weeks prior and after surgery. They should not get involved in strenuous exercise for at least two weeks after facial liposuction . Mild pain may be present after surgery, which could be controlled with pain medications. Bruising and swelling may be seen for a few weeks after this cosmetic procedure . You should be able to return to work within two weeks after this type of plastic surgery . Final results of facial liposuction should be seen within six weeks to half a year.

As with all surgery, face and neck liposuction has some risks and limitations that you should be aware of before undergoing this cosmetic surgery procedure. The most common problem associated with any type of liposuction is irregularities of the corrected area and contour due to too much fat removed or lost skin elasticity. Other complications are rare but still possible. They include swelling, bruising, excessive bleeding, infection of the surgery site, and reaction to anesthesia.

Face and neck liposuction cost

The cost of face and neck liposuction depends on the extent of the procedure, procedure, and clinic. Usually the total cost varies from $2,500 to $4,500.

Even though some risks and complications are associated with this cosmetic surgery procedure, the results are dramatic. Usually patients who have realistic expectations are particularly satisfied with the surgery results, which not only improve the appearance, giving a more youthful and smooth looks, but also enhance patients’ self-esteem and confidence. However, this procedure does not make other people change their opinion about you.

Mini liposuction

Everybody has certain areas of the body that do not look the way we want them to look. Some of these areas may be improved with healthy diet and exercise, but many of these areas will not be improved even if we put enough effort. Even people with normal or lower than needed weight have small areas of their bodies where fat accumulates and these fatty areas are resistant to persistent exercise and healthy eating. What should we do if we want to improve these imperfect body sites?

The answer in many cases is mini liposuction or mini lipo in other words. First introduced a few years ago by a plastic surgeon from Beverly Hills, mini lipo procedure is a less complicated and shorter modification of usual liposuction . This procedure is performed on only one or two spots of the body on patients, who are close to their normal weight, in order to give a better, more balanced and proportionate appearance.

The ideal patient for mini liposuction is a person whose weight is normal or close to ideal but who has small or even minimal body areas that the patient himself/herself considers imperfect. The patient should be at least 18 years old or older. He/she should be in a relatively good physical and psychological health conditions, and most important, have realistic expectations.

Areas for mini liposuction

Mini liposuction may be performed on different areas of the body, where spots of excess fat appear to be. Usually these parts include sites around the knees, at the upper part of the chest close to the armpit, under the chin, behind the elbows and other. These areas are usually resistant to exercise and diet, are very minimal but very bothering to the patient.

If you have fatty areas of the body that bother you and are stubborn to exercise, you might want to consider having the mini-lipo procedure. Once you make an appointment with a plastic surgeon, you will have to come for initial consultation. On your initial consultation, the doctor will collect your whole medical history, including past and present diseases, surgeries, and medications you are taking. He/she will evaluate the areas that bother you and may be treated with mini liposuction. Then the surgeon will decide if you are suitable for this type of cosmetic surgery and explain the procedure itself, its risks and limitations.

Mini lipo

Mini liposuction is a smaller procedure that normal liposuction. During this procedure local anesthesia may be administered, resulting in fewer risks and complications compared to the usual liposuction procedure. In addition, it is used on smaller or even minimal areas of the body, usually one or two. This cosmetic surgery procedure takes up to one hour, during which the patient is totally awake. The amount of fat removed is less than 2.5 pounds from one area. Furthermore, smaller instruments are used during mini-lipo compared to normal liposuction.

The combination of all these factors results in less pain, less time needed, fewer complications and smaller expenses for the patient. Mini-lipo costs under $2,500. It also does not require such a long recovery period. Most patients are able to resume their daily activities and return back to work the next day or even on the same day after this type of plastic surgery . There are also no restrictions for exercise, on the contrary, the patients are encouraged to start exercising within a few days after this cosmetic surgery.

Mini liposuction is performed on an out-patient basis. Local anesthetics are used before surgery. Then a small needle is inserted into the operated area and a special lypolytic fluid is injected into it. The surgeon will then remove fat accumulation with a syringe and a small cannula. This results in less bruising, pain and swelling.

Once the procedure is over, a small bandage is placed on it and you will be able to return home straight after mini-lipo . Recovery time is minimal and you will be able to return to work the next day after surgery. You will be instructed by your surgeon on how to exercise in order to experience best results as possible. Final results should be seen within a few weeks after this plastic surgery procedure.

Even though this type of cosmetic surgery is minimal, risks are also minimal and rare, but as with any surgery, they may occur. The most common risk is infection of the operated site, bruising, bleeding, and extensive swelling. Since the most common complication of regular liposuction is irregular shape of the treated area due to suction of two much fatty tissue, this does not apply to mini lipo.

Even though mini liposuction is a minimal plastic surgery procedure, its effects are dramatic. If you have realistic expectations about the procedure, you will be satisfied and delighted when you se the results. Mini-lipo improves the appearance and increases a person’s confidence and self-esteem but it cannot change the way people think about you.

Ultrasonic assisted liposuction

Ultrasonic assisted liposuction (UAL) is a specific method of liposuction . This type of liposuction was firstly experimented in Europe and now it is very popular in the USA. “The results are wonderful”- says many well known lipoplasty professionals. This type of liposuction opened more possibilities for the plastic surgeons to remove high volumes of fat and make esthetic shape of the body. Basically, it opened more expectations for the overweight patients.

Ultrasonic liposuction is suitable for people having moderate amounts of fat to large amounts. The list of areas which can be treated is added with the back, male breast and upper abdomen. Also it is available for people wanting to correct the contours of the body or correct the anomaly of the body caused by fat collection

Types of ultrasonic liposuction

There exist two types of ultrasonic liposuction : internal and external. The main difference is how the procedure is performed. During the internal liposuction the ultrasonic wave is delivered internally that is to say by inserting a special canulla. External method of UAL is performed with the application of the instrument directly to the outer skin surface. This method happened to be an enthusiastic experiment and now is used very rarely. How does the ultrasonic energy work? The principle is simple – it makes the fat cells to move quickly which results in the fat cell break. Later on the fat is sucked. Such method is an advantage of not being so mechanical as traditional liposuction which requires many efforts trying to remove the cells with fat. If large amounts of fat need to be removed you will be asked to give some blood which can be used at the end of surgery as the blood transfusion.

Of course liposuction should be performed by a qualified surgeon. As this method is specific it requires practical experience the procedure to be safe and with nice results. After the procedure you will be allowed to go home with compressions covering the treated areas. You can feel some pain after also the areas will begin to swell. This will subside in time and in two months you will see final results.

Advantages of UAL

These are the advantages of ultrasonic assisted liposuction : it is performed with little bruises, blood is lost in lower amounts rather than during traditional liposuction, the healing is not so complicated and also is faster, the results are of long- term. Also this procedure can be applied on many areas which could not be treated with liposuction before. Of course it doesn’t mean that traditional way of liposuction will be forgotten just ultrasonic liposuction allows more choices for the patients.

The cost of such plastic procedure is higher than traditional one. As this technique requires more time to spend as more areas can be treated. In addition to that the instruments of UAL cost much more of traditional devices. But the results are worth the cost. Some times these two methods are combined and only little additional fee is added.

Wet and super wet liposuction

There are various liposuction techniques used in plastic surgery today. Wet and super-wet techniques are one of the newest ones and have a lot of advantages. These two methods are very similar to each other.

Wet liposuction

During wet liposuction method a certain amount of fluid is injected before the procedure. This fluid consists of intravenous salt solution, a local anesthetic substance lidocaine and adrenaline, a medication that make the blood vessels contract. This fluid is injected into the areas where fat is to be removed.

Injection of medical solutions has a lot of advantages and is preferred by many plastic surgeons. Due to these techniques fat are eliminated more easily. During this method of liposuction less blood is lost and anesthesia is provided for the plastic surgery. Due to fluid injection bruising is less visible after surgery.

During wet technique an incision is made on the skin. Then a surgeon inserts a tiny metal tube under the skin into a fatty tissue. This tube is moved around in the fatty tissue. Afterwards, fatty deposits are suctioned with the help a vacuum pump or syringe.

Super wet liposuction

The difference between a wet and super-wet technique is in the amount of medical solution injected. During super-wet technique the amount of fluid injected prior to liposuction is usually equal to the amount of fat to be removed. During wet technique a smaller amount of fluid is injected.

Techniques used in liposuction usually depend upon a surgeon, his/her professional skills and preference. Do not hesitate to ask your doctor for more information on the method of liposuction to be used, its advantages and disadvantages.

Abdominal liposuction

Abdominal liposuction , in other words, lipoplasty or suction lipectomy, is a common surgical cosmetic procedure that helps to sculpt one’s body by removing unwanted fat from the abdomen. It is one of the most popular plastic surgery in the United States of America. It is not, however, a substitute for diet and this surgery does not lower the body weight, it only removes fat that is resistant to diet or different forms of exercise.

Abdominal liposuction

Many people all over the world suffer from fat accumulation on their bellies. This accumulation may be inherited or gained, due to overweight or after pregnancy. People try to change this by excessive exercise and diet. Even though people lose weight they might find themselves disappointed about not having their abdomens look flat. This gives an unbalanced look due to protruding belly because of fatty tissue accumulation on it. Luckily, abdominal liposuction , including new techniques, such as, the tumescent liposuction , ultrasonic-assisted suction liposuction , and super-wet technique, helps to get rid of unwanted fat on the belly and get a great and balanced new look.

Abdominal liposuction surgery

Before starting to plan one’s surgery, a person needs to find out if he/she is suitable for abdominal liposuction. One should bear in mind that the higher the goal, the greater participation of the patient is needed. If a person wants the abdomen to look flat and athletic, one will have to put some efforts in specific exercise. It is also important to have realistic expectations, since this cosmetic surgery will change the appearance of one’s body and might even raise one’s self-esteem it will not, however, change other people’s opinion towards a patient.

People, who want to have abdominal liposuction, should be in a good physical and psychological condition. In order to achieve better results, a person should also be of normal weight, have firm skin of a good elasticity. Therefore even though a patient’s age is not a limit, younger people tend to experience more significant results post-operatively than the older ones. Additional diseases or conditions, such as, diabetes, heart or lung disorders, may add a greater risk to such patients.

A doctor will give specific instructions on diet and smoking before surgery. Usually surgeons ask their patients to quit smoking for two weeks prior to and after the procedure. Abdominal liposuction is most often performed in an out-patient department but, if larger amount of fat needs to be removed, the surgery might be carried out in a hospital. Abdominal liposuction is a procedure, during which a small incision is made usually in the belly button or in the bikini area and a small cannula is inserted into the fat layer underneath the abdominal skin. This tube or cannula is used to break up the fatty deposits on the belly and remove them by a powerful vacuum pump. The surgeon removes unwanted fat and sculpts the area of the abdomen. A small incision is them stitched and they tend to be nearly invisible. The surgery lasts from 1 to 2 hours depending on the amount of fat removed.

Suction lipectomy methods

Various suction lipectomy methods slightly differ from one another. During super-wet liposuction a fluid containing a saline solution and adrenaline is injected into the fat deposit area, which helps to break the fat tissue easier and reduces bleeding in the surgical area. Tumecent technique also involves injection of fluid but in larger quantities and has similar advantages. The most recent method, ultrasound assisted liposuction applies ultrasound waves to break the fatty tissue but uses regular ways to remove it from the abdomen.

After abdominal liposuction

Patients should not expect to gain a great new look straight after the plastic surgery . Healing is a continuous process and, therefore, some discomfort, swelling, bruising, and pain may be apparent post-operatively. These symptoms usually last for 3 to 6 weeks but swelling might be present for half a year. A patient is able to return to work and normal activities within two weeks but exhausting activities should be avoided for about four weeks. Cosmetic results should be visible within a month or 6 weeks after surgery. And final contour will be apparent within three months post-operatively when most of the swelling disappears.

Abdominal liposuction side-effects

Even though abdominal liposuction is not a very complicated plastic surgery procedure, as with all surgery, it has certain risks. Complications are rare but still possible. One of the most common complications is infection. Clot formation, delay in heeling are also possible. Although ultrasound assisted technique is considered to be a safer option, long-term results are yet not known. The risk of drug reactions is possible in people who are allergic to certain substances. And although scars are usually invisible after abdominal liposuction , some irregularities or even asymmetry of the treated area is possible, particularly in older patients or those with low skin elasticity.

Abdominal liposuction cost

The cost of the procedure depends upon the extent of the surgery, technique used, and clinic. It also may differ in various regions. The average price varies from $3,000 to $6,500.

The results of abdominal liposuction are long-lasting, since fat cells from a certain area are removed during the procedure. However, additional weight gain might lead to accumulation of fat in the close areas resulting in uneven look and contour. But if a person continues with regular exercises and healthy diet, the results of the surgery should be satisfying for a long time post-operatively.

Am I a good candidate for liposuction?

The best candidates for the procedure are considered to be normal-weight patients with compact, elastic skin who have an accumulation of fat in certain areas that are resistant to exercise and dieting. They should be in a healthy state both physically and mentally.

The best candidates

The best candidates should be psychologically stable and realistic in their expectations. If these expectations are realistic, one should be happy with the results achieved by surgery. The patient‘s age should also be taken in consideration — as skin elasticity decreases with age — so an older patient may not experience the same liposuction results as a younger patient with tighter skin. Hence, older patients should have smaller expectations considering the state of their skin. One should also know that liposuction is not a substitute for overall weight loss. It should not be considered as an effective treatment for cellulite . But the procedure may be used for male breast reduction. With all this in mind, patients can adjust their expectations regarding effectiveness of liposuction . Individuals who have additional diseases or disorders—such as diabetes, heavy heart, lung disease, or poor blood circulation—and those who have recently undergone surgery near the area to be contoured are considered to have greater health risks due toliposuction. Therefore, patients must understand and discuss with a surgeon all the potential risks.

What kind of procedure liposuction is?

Obesity has become a serious problem in many countries. More than 50% of the adult population in the United States is overweight. High-calorie diets and low levels of exercise are main factors leading to obesity. Therefore, modulating diet and the amount of exercise may be useful for ridding oneself of unwanted fat. But what if one wishes to lose fat from the particular areas that are not easily affected by dieting or exercise? What if an individual‘s efforts at weight loss do not affect some fat deposits in specific areas, including the abdomen, chest, thighs, buttocks, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck? In such situations, liposuction may be a useful option for some people.

New fat removal method

Liposuction is a popular form of cosmetic plastic surgery which can help sculpt the human body by eliminating unwanted fat from certain areas of the body (typically the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks). During liposuction, fat is removed by liquefying it and sucking it out through a hollow needle or vacuum device. Although it is not considered a treatment for overweight patients, not astonishingly, liposuction has become the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedure in the United States. Over the last 15 years, liposuction, which is also known as "lipoplasty" or "suction lipectomy," has gained the benefit of several new techniques and modulations.

The introduction of tumescent and superwet techniques, ultrasonic liposuction, and ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty has helped many plastic surgeons provide selected patients with more accurate liposuction results and faster recovery times. In addition, these new techniques have made the removal of larger volumes of fat with less blood loss easier. The most common areas of the body for liposuction include the chin, cheeks, neck, upper arms, area above the breasts, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves, and ankles. Although liposuction may be an option in certain cases in which fat cannot be removed by dieting or exercise, it should not be used as a low-effort alternative to training and diet. The procedure can be painful, expensive, and, like any plastic surgery , may cause certain complications or health risks. To minimize the risks of the procedure, certain precautions should be taken. The surgeon and anesthesiologist must be properly trained and educated to perform the liposuction procedure. Also, the patient must be selected adequetly for the procedure.

Hence, not everyone is a good candidate for liposuction. To be a good candidate for the procedure, you must be well psychologically prepared. You must have realistic expectations about liposuction. One should know that liposuction can improve your appearance and self confidence, but it won’t undoubtedly change your image to match your ideal. It will not necessarily cause other people to treat you differently, so a person who expects to improve one‘s relations with others is not a suitable candidate for the procedure. Before you decide to have this plastic surgery , think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your surgeon.

Liposuction cost

Few people really have much of an idea of how much liposuction costs. If you decide to have liposuction performed, you will want to know precisely what you will pay for it. The cost of liposuction varies, depending on several factors. Usually, the liposuction cost per body area decreases if more than one body area is treated, since it is relatively easier and more efficient to treat one more area than it is to treat the first area. There is no concrete price set for liposuction, there are many types of liposuction and many different needs amongst liposuction patients. That’s why the price of liposuction surgery may very from case to case.

One of the most frequently asked questions that people interested in undergoing liposuction surgery is “How much does liposuction cost?”. As the matter of fact it is impossible to give the right answer. As there are numerous liposuction procedures, liposuction prices will vary from procedure to procedure, liposuction cost will range from plastic surgeon to plastic surgeon and also from state to state . Besides there are various issues which affect the cost of liposuction surgery (surgeons, amount of procedures, part of the body being operated on, patient’s gender, percentage of fat removed, liposuction procedure type). While consulting with a variety of plastic surgeons about liposuction costs , people may find major differences in liposuction prices from these surgeons. Often these differences in liposuction pricing are a result of medical qualifications and experience.

Another factor is, if patient will have few liposuction procedures the price of liposuction will fall down. It is natural that the fisrt procedure of liposuction costs more than the second or third, because the area treated contains less percentage of fat after the first procedure. Liposuction costs will fluctuate wildly depending on the type of liposuction procedure being performed and the part of the body that will be treated. Generally, liposuction costs are higher for surgeries performed on men than women, because there is a larger presence of fibrous fat found in males than females. Plastic surgeons will charge liposuction prices for operations that take longer. As a result, patients pay higher liposuction costs if a large amount of fat is being eliminated from their bodies. Different procedure types of liposuction differ from each other based on equipment that it used during the procedure. Also liposuction procedures that utilize newer equipment will have higher liposuction costs.

One more thing, liposuction prices can vary depending on where the procedure is performed, what clinic the candidates choose. Some clinics charge less than others. Liposuction costs for one procedure in a single area can cost $800, but this sum can reach thousands. Nevertheless there are general dominating prices.

Usually the liposuction surgery will cost between $1500 and $3000. National average is 2,578 U.S. dollars. Usually the price reaches 1,800 U.S. dollars for area ( arms, chin, back, thighs, abdomen – the patients will need to pay additionally 900 U.S. dollars if waits is included). Generally, if more than 4 areas are treated, patient will get a discount.

These are the approximate fees in the U.S.:

 Treatment area  Minimum  Maximum
 Abdomen upper  $3.000  $7.500
 Abdomen lower  $2.000  $2.000
 Arms  $1.500  $5.000
 Breasts (female)  $3.000  $7.500
 Breasts (male)  $3.000  $5.000
 Buttocks  $1.500  $4.500
 Chin, cheeks  $2.000  $4.500
 Flanks (male)  $2.000  $5.000
Anterior and inner thighs and knees  $2.000  $5.000
Outer thighs  $1.600  $5.000
 Hips/Waist  $1.600  $5.000

The size of the patient, preoparative laboratory fees, operating room fees, and the time and effort required of the surgeon, determine the cost of liposcution. If an anesthesiologist is required, in that case patient will need to pay the additional fee.

Liposuction surgery

Every surgery needs some preparations by the patient. Your surgeon will give the exact instructions on how to prepare for the procedure. This would include recommendations on eating, drinking, smoking and exercising before and after liposuction. Specific medications, such as aspirin or herbal supplements, should be discontinued 2 weeks prior surgery. It is important for you to mention to your doctor any medications you are taking. The use of iron tablets, vitamins, and certain medicines will be considered by your operating surgeon.

The liposuction surgery

Your surgery may have to be postponed due to the common cold or an infection, especially a skin infection. In rare cases, your doctor may suggest that you have blood drawn some time before the operation in case it is needed during the liposuction surgery . You should arrange with someone to take care of you after the procedure for a few days, since all patients are treated in the outpatient care department. Only the rare case requires a short hospital stay, and this will be explained by your doctor. The surgery may take from 1 to 2 hours, depending on thetechnique of liposuction and the size of the area treated, as well as the volume of fat removed and type of anesthesia applied. Various techniques may be used and some last longer than the others. Markings are used prior to surgery to mark the precise area where unwanted fat should be removed. Once anesthesia starts to work, a small incision is made in order to insert a small, hollow tube, and fat is removed from a certain area. A few incisions may be needed depending on the size of the area. Then the tube is pushed and pulled through the fat layer, destroying the fat cells in the tissue. Fat is suctioned using a syringe or a vacuum device. The amount of fat removed depends on the technique chosen and can be up to 4 or 5 litters if a large amount liposuction is performed. The surgeon tries to leave the scars as inconspicuous as possible.

Anesthesia

Anesthesia, which is the loss of feeling or sensation either with or without loss of consciousness, is needed during plastic surgery . Local, general, or epidural anesthesia can be chosen during the liposuction procedure. The selection of a specific type of anesthesia is chosen by the patient and the doctor together to assure the safest and most comfortable state during surgery. The patient‘s physical status should be taken in consideration regarding the type of anesthesia chosen. However, most commonly, general anesthesia is applied during liposuction. When small areas are treated, local anesthesia may be applied. So, the type of anesthesia chosen depends on the physical state, area treated, and patient‘s preference

After liposuction

After your liposuction surgery you may need someone‘s help at home. You will be recommended by your doctor to start walking around as soon as possible to decrease the swelling and help avoid blood clots from forming in your legs. Either the doctor removes the stitches or they dissolve on their own within 7 to 10 days.

After liposuction

A snug compression garment helps the swelling to heal more quickly and may be needed for about two weeks. The results of the liposuction procedure become visible within 5-6 weeks after surgery, when the swelling decreases. The patient can return to work in 1 to 2 weeks after the procedure. More difficult activity is possible in 2 to 4 weeks. However, you should take into consideration that full recovery from bruising and swelling may take up to 6 months. So, you may not want to plan your holidays in a hot climate within 6 months after surgery. As some fluid may discharge in the areas of the incisions, a small drainage tube may be inserted underneath the skin to avoid fluid accumulation for a few days. Swelling, bruising, temporary pain, burning, and bleeding may occur after surgery and can be reduced by medications prescribed by your surgeon. However, you may still feel a bit stiff or depressed for a few days after surgery, but you will start feeling better as your looks starts to improve and swelling reduces. With all this in mind, it is easier to tolerate the period after surgery. You will have to see your doctor regularly so that he can check your physical health and your progress. If any additional procedures are needed, your surgeon will advise you so.

Liposuction risk and complications

Liposuction is a relatively safe procedure. But, as any surgery, it can have certain health risks and possible complications. Risks increase depending on age and physical state of the patient, as well as on the number of areas treated and the amount of fat removed. The greater the area, the bigger the risk of liposuction. Also, liposuction procedures in which 4 – 5 litters of fat are removed have greater risks than other techniques. You should know that there are no guarantees in having a good result, as it is very individual and depends also on the patient‘s body. Complications, though very rare, still occur. The most frequent complications after liposuction are skin irregularities and contour deformities. Other possible complications include an asymmetric or irregular skin surface, especially for older patients. In such cases, additional sugery may be suggested. Other risks include infection, which can be prevented by taking antibiotics, and skin injury. In addition, pigmentation changes and fluid accumulation may occur after liposuction. Scars from liposuction usually do not cause any discomfort as they are barely visible and placed to be hidden from view.
